EV Lobby Day in Richmond
Each January, AGLCA helps to gather a contingent of engaged members to go down to Richmond as part of Equality Virginia's Lobby Day. We speak to our State representatives and remind them of the ongoing need to protect the rights for all Virginians.

First Responders Dinner
Each year, AGLCA members show our gratitude to Alexandria's first responders. The police, firefighters, EMTs and the Sheriff's staff come for a good meal and fellowship.

Pride Booth
Each year, AGLCA volunteers takes turns to staffing our booth at the Pride Festival to reach out and raise awareness about the GLBT community in Alexandria. It's a great way to get to know other members and to help us attract new members.

Adopt-a-Block

It was a great night to put on the ritz and celebrate our 25 years of history. A glamorous night for new and old friends to mix and mingle and celebrate the vibrant GLBT community in Alexandria.

GLBT Community Business Expo
This 2008 event was held at the Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria. Organized by AGLCA Vice-President Gerda Edwards it allowed AGLCA members to get to know community businesses. The visit from Mayor Euille was a neat bonus.

Louganis Speaks
In October 2008, the Alexandria Office on Women Domestic Violence Program (DVP) and Sexual Assault Response and Awareness (SARA) Program invited Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis to speak to citizens about his experiences as a survivor of intimate partner violence.
AGLCA Membership Coordinator Juan Noboa served on the LGBTIQ Advisory Board that coordinated this event and served as "escort" for Mr Louganis and Nipper.
The Advisory Board was chaired by former AGLCA President Karen Gautney.

City leaders join AGLCA to celebrate Alexandria's recognition as a fabulous place for gays and lesbians to live. It's true!

Holiday Toy Distribution
In December AGLCA members take a turn at playing elves for Community Partners for Children in their holiday toy distribution for needy families in Alexandria. Folks spend the morning sorting through the piles of toys and gifts and the afternoon helping parents and caregivers to put together a their bags of goodies.
