Each January, AGLCA helps to gather a contingent of engaged members to go down to Richmond as part of Equality Virginia's Lobby Day. We speak to our State representatives and remind them of the ongoing need to protect the rights for all Virginians.

Each year, AGLCA members show our gratitude to Alexandria's first responders. The police, firefighters, EMTs and the Sheriff's staff come for a good meal and fellowship.

AGLCA cleans up Old Town. Members volunteer to pick up trash in our little corner of King Street to keep Alexandria beautiful.

A very popular social event held in the summer that draws oglers and oglees.

Folks brought kith, kin and kanine to enjoy an afternoon along the riverfront, dodging thundershowers and lightning,enjoying abundant food and soggy lawn games.

This 2008 event was held at the Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria. Organized by AGLCA Vice-President Gerda Edwards it allowed AGLCA members to get to know community businesses. The visit from Mayor Euille was a neat bonus.

In October 2008, the Alexandria Office on Women Domestic Violence Program (DVP) and Sexual Assault Response and Awareness (SARA) Program invited Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis to speak to citizens about his experiences as a survivor of intimate partner violence.

AGLCA Membership Coordinator Juan Noboa served on the LGBTIQ Advisory Board that coordinated this event and served as "escort" for Mr Louganis and Nipper.

The Advisory Board was chaired by former AGLCA President Karen Gautney.

In December AGLCA members take a turn at playing elves for Community Partners for Children in their holiday toy distribution for needy families in Alexandria. Folks spend the morning sorting through the piles of toys and gifts and the afternoon helping parents and caregivers to put together a their bags of goodies.

One of our occasional theme parties that let members get together for fun and games in a relaxed atmosphere. And usually enjoy some excellent potluck treats!
